Yellow Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Yellow Tavern feels like entering a warmly lit corner of New Harmony where the pace slows just enough to catch your breath. It’s a place where vintage photos line the walls, whispering stories from days gone by, and the hum of friendly conversation blends softly with the clinking of glasses and plates. The cozy, unhurried atmosphere invites you to relax and savor the moment, whether you're settling in for a hearty meal or meeting friends for an easy evening.
The heart of Yellow Tavern lies in its approachable, homey menu that offers something for nearly every taste. Imagine sinking your teeth into a flavorful ribeye or enjoying a thoughtfully crafted pizza with just the right balance of toppings and a perfectly thin crust. There’s a distinct comfort in sharing a sandwich piled high or a bowl of warming gumbo that feels like a communal secret handed down through the kitchen.
What makes the experience truly memorable, though, is the genuine warmth from the staff—a sense that they are quietly attuned to your needs, refreshing your water or chatting about day-to-day life as if you were a neighbor stopping by. The spot draws a steady rhythm of locals and visitors alike, all savoring the simple pleasures of good food, familiar faces, and the kind of atmosphere where time just seems to unfold naturally.
Whether you’re popping in after a day exploring nearby galleries or settling in for a casual meal with family, Yellow Tavern offers a grounded, welcoming escape that feels both familiar and a little like discovery. It’s the kind of place where the menu is an invitation to unwind, the service is a subtle kindness, and the whole experience gently encourages you to stay a little longer.

Such a cute quaint place. We enjoyed a supreme pizza and split a salad. The blue cheese salad dressing had chunks of cheese in it. A friend enjoyed a cod sandwich which was huge. No draft beers, but a large variety of bottles. Best part of the Yellow Tavern was the service. Our waitress practically read our minds when our water glasses ran low.

Went to the Yellow Tavern with some friends, there were 6 of us. My wife and I ordered a loaded pizza. Others ordered chili, they all enjoyed the chili. The pizza was exceptional, the only thing I can say negative is, as I say in most pizza places, not enough sauce. But there's lots of meat and cheese and the crust was thin, the way I like it. One of our party ordered a Ruben, he said it was very good, he loves Ruben sandwiches. He also ordered a baked potato and the baked potato was just about the right size, not too big and was cooked all the way through. Something that everyone needs to understand is that the Yellow Tavern is just that, a tavern, a bar, so anyone under the age of 21 is not allowed in. We saw several groups of people come in with children and were told they could not stay. The place is old but has a lot of good character, the help was great, very helpful, very friendly, a lot of fun. We had a good time. THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS. If this review is helpful, please give me a thumbs up.

Lovely restaurant with old time photos on the wall. Welcoming staff. I enjoyed my German bologna sandwich, baked potato and broccoli. Lots of choices on the menu including a vegetarian option and pizza. It was busy when I was there and the staff were hustling. Very close to Hoosier Art Salon which featured art competition entries.

We love their pizza. The toppings are fresh and the crust was just right. Great food!

Yellow Tavern is THE place to go while in New Harmony. The sear on their steak is perfect every time. CASH ONLY but an ATM is available by the restrooms. A little pricey as everything is a la carte but the food is so good! Everybody raves about their pizza so be sure to try it. All the desserts are homemade. MUST BE 21

If you're in New Harmony this is where you need to stop for lunch / dinner. We met family at "The Yellow" for a Christmas Eve-Eve dinner, excellent as usual and not just the food but decorations too. All were pleased with their meals, I can tell you my pizza was loaded with toppings. (Way back in the day this was the only place you could get pizza locally, what a great memory) Tavern fills up on Friday and Saturday evenings so I suggest you get there early. I highly recommend.

We love to come here and eat and enjoy the atmosphere! Brenda is a great server, I've been acquainted with her for several years and she does a great job! Today, which was Kunstfest 2019 was a busy day, but The Yellow Tavern ran like a well oiled machine! We had cheeseburgers and breaded cauliflower which is always delicious!
